mbc1963 Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 There's a little college campus near my house. The college closed in 2000 (financial mismanagement), and it's been abandoned and on the market since then. Wonderful place to walk dogs: it's where I met all the very good people who helped me socialize Buddy, and all his best dog friends. Last September, a new college bought the campus (phew!) and put big chain-link fences around it while they did major reconstruction on the ancient buildings. So, our little community was ousted. We met here and there, in twos and threes. It was rather like being a secret society under a ruthless dictator. Well, today the fences came down. I took Buddy over there twice. The first time, he was so excited that he tried to jump out the half-open car window. The second time, he got to see several of his doggy friends and their owners. He was just tickled to death and showed definite joy at seeing adults he hasn't seen in almost a year. Joey, the World's Happiest Greyhound, was walking outside the fence; he was so gleeful to see his long-lost pals inside the campus that he was actually shivering from head to tail. So sweet! afrancis Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 How great for both of you! Yeah! Yesterday Skye and I met up with a dog-walker friend that took her out a few times several years ago. She called her from afar and Skye nearly took off with her helicopter tail while greeting her. She even DROPPED her ball to say hi! Such a satisfying moment for you! Ailsa Quote
