kelpiegirl
I will take a photo, but basically, Lucy has a patch of hair loss right where her buckle is. The collar is not overly tight. She has been in ponds lately- could the water be reacting with the metal and causing this? Has anyone else had this happen to their dogs? Sue R
My guesses would either be rubbing (something doesn't need to be tight to rub) or reaction to something in the metal (and with all the water, I would think that would likely be worse than otherwise). Maybe she's just angling for a new, more stylish collar.
DTrain
Hi Kelpie, oddly enough we noticed a few days ago that Dave was losing lots of hair around his neck. The only thing that has changed in his life is that in the past couple of weeks or so he has taken to water for the first time. It has been hot and humid and something told me to switch his collar back to a light training chain and this seems to have helped. Our oldest dog has been having trouble with bold spots on his belly and a couple on his lower sides. He to loves to play in water and we noticed that his skin was often a little red after a play / water sessions. We took him to the vet and discovered that he has a skin infection which we are treating. We have no idea if it is the water or something he is picking up on the ground when he does his lie downs but we are drying him off carefully after his work or play and we seem to be winning. It could be an allergy and a combination of things. I groomed the dogs yesterday and noticed that they are all losing hair at a big rate. I got enough hair out of them to build another dog. I have not seen this much hair loss in them before so we are watching carefully. Have you noticed any color change or anything on the skin.
