My Dog's New Sound

Recommended Posts

Buddy has always been full of growling, barking, menacing noises. Happy barks for me when I come home. And the occasional high-pitched whine when he sees a friend and wants to get to him as quickly as possible. But lately, in the last couple months, he's developed this new vocalization: an absolute cry of joy when he sees a dog or human he likes. It's a loud, full-on, "Wooeeeheeaawwwweeeoooorooawwwwmmmeeeerrreeoorrr..." He makes it sound as though it's painful, how much he loves the person or dog we're running into.

It's so nice to watch him develop a language of joy to supplement his former language of fear.

LOL thought I was the only one who's BC said "Wooeeeheeaawwwweeeoooorooawwwwmmmeeeerrreeoorrr..." and if Im not mistaken it starts off high and trails low at the end:)

It's hard to tell what Black Jack says most of the time because I can't spell what it sounds like. He makes to many different noises to say anyway.

My youngest dog when he is playing sometimes and gets very excited will make loud sounds like that big hairy creature in the original star wars movie, I don't remember his name but he was Harrison Fords partner on his ship. Everybody gets a kick out of it and the more attention he gets, the more he does it. I don't know where he gets it. His dad almost never makes a sound and barks probably four or five times per year.

Ah, Star Wars nerd moment, that big hairy beast is Chubaka (not nerd enough to spell it right though) the Wookie. Poke makes Wookie noises when he is really into wrestling with someone as well.

Right I could not remember. When he does it everybody laughs at him. I kind of think he likes it, he is a bit of a ham actor. A new border collie talent, wookie noises.
