Ninso
I use Jaws by Hyperflight. You can buy them here: http://www.skyhoundz.com/discs.html They are fairly expensive, but they last forever and are totally worth it. As for soft rubber Frisbees, I like the K-9 Flyer by RuffDawg. They are far, far more durable than the Kong frisbees and they fly a lot better. My dog chews on them, plays tug with them and it takes a long time to puncture one. Even once they puncture, it takes a while to rip them to the point they won't fly anymore.
RaisingRiver
I 2nd the Jawz. I'm not the best frisbee thrower, but getting really good w/ the Jawz, it just flies better. It also takes biting very well and you can also sand down the edges if/when they get rough. I tried the regular Competition Standard (cheaper) first and it flies well too but doesn't hold up to the bite catches as well. And the Jawz really does fly well. I heard the Jawz X is great too, just haven't tried it myself. Also, don't get the lemony/clear color as I think it's harder for the dogs to catch in the sunlight - I ended up also getting the pinky ones - they stand out really well. River learned on a floppy disc - the soft canvasy kind from the petstore - she used it for 2 years (pup size first then regular). She never understood the regular hard frisbees (tried a few store brands) until I got the Hyperflyte (from skyhoundz) soft bite frisbee - she transitioned easily at 2.5yrs old. Then we switched to the regular just fine. Competition wise - I think all the hyperflyte discs on skyhoundz are competition approved, even the softbite. Ninso
Lok has a terrible time finding pink discs in grass. I don't know why, maybe pink and green look the same in dog-vision. Yeah, the Competition Standard discs don't hold up well at all. Five minutes with one of those and it's completely chewed up!
RaisingRiver
The grass? How did the disc get there?!
mobcmom
Besides Hyperflite and Jaws discs, many people also like Hero discs and fastbacks. http://hyperflite.com/ http://www.herodiscusa.com/ http://www.dtworld.com/product_p/d170.htm It seems to boil down to preference and what works best for the dogs. My older bc likes the jaws disc best and my younger bc doesn't care. Any Frisbee is a good Frisbee. My DH likes Hyperflite competition discs best. He thinks they fly better. My preference is the Hero 235 or Xtr 235. I have to use a Jaws or Hero Xtr 235 for my younger bc because she bites harder and these discs are hold up better. The 235 gets teeth marks easily and it is cutting the younger dog's gums when she catches the Frisbee. The older bc does not have this problem and any good disc dog Frisbee will work with her. We have Hyperflite and Hero discs. I have not used fastbacks but many other people seem to like them. Either way, please use "real" disc dog discs and not cheap Frisbees. mobcmom
Abby & Coopers Parents
i use a jawz disc in toss and fetch and time events and hyperfilte k-10's disc in xtreme distance and in freestyle. and i buy k-10 misprints by the hundred because they are cheaper that way. i only use 200+ disc a year
