Laurae
Omar is a 5 year old, experienced Akbash cross (possible Marema, GP) out of Steamboat Springs area of Colorado. He was found by some kind people. He had been attacked by coyotes and was rather torn up. He was taken to the vet. They managed to find the sheepherders who he belonged to, they refused to pay Omar's vet bill. Omar was surrendered to the Steamboat Springs Animal Shelter. The adoption fee is a very reasonable $30. I would adopt Omar, but I have two Akbash LG dogs at this time and I am not ready for a third. My experience with the Akbash breed has found them to be loyal, loving and totally devoted to protecting their sheep or goats or the whole farm. Which is what my two do, all of the above. They have managed to move the coyotes out of the area, away from the sheep.
