Tally for the day- Jonah +10, Dad-10

As most of you probably know, we're burning down here in Northen CA!

 

So Jonah sleeps in his crate at night, and almost every night right about 3 AM he wakes me up barking. I get up, let him outside to pee, and of course when he comes back in he wants to play. Sorry kid, back in the kennel to sleep. Usually I'll be woken up by him afterwards a few times with a a little barking. This morning was no exception, come 3:45 AM (I estimate), Jonah wakes me up with a little barking. Back to sleep I go but within 5 or 10 minutes I'm woken again and his barking has progressed to some pretty wild barking. So up I get, 4 AM, foggy brained and eyed. A strong and VERY noticeable odor of smoke permeated the room. I jump up and look out my bedroom window and looks to be a giant black plume of smoke which I estimate is only a few (~1 acre) lots over. OH F***!!! Go outside to look and silly me, it's only the outline of one of the large oak trees! (it WAS only 4 and still dark out).

 

Anyway, back to sleep I go and it wasn't until just now after speaking with someone at work that most likely Jonah was sounding an alert. Jonah SHOULD have gotten a 'GOOD BOY!' instead of the 'knock it off, go back to sleep' which he got.

 

Bottom line is, in a scale of 1-10 points, that's gotta be 10 points for Jonah, and 10 points taken away from me for not praising him ...

I always try to listen to what Black Jack is trying to tell me. I don't always understand him, but when he talks or barks he needs to tell me something. Otherwise he's pretty quiet.
