Jedismom
Jedi has recently started getting car sick. All of a sudden he went from being normal in the car, to plastering himself against the door, drooling, and then eventually getting sick depending on the length of the ride. I have no idea why. A friend of mine goes to a holistic pet store so I asked her if she could look into a product that might help. The store owner recommended a product called Happy Traveler by Ark Naturals. I gave it to him a half hour before we left, put his doggie bed and favorite toy in the car, and he was totally relaxed the whole way there and back. I just thought I'd share in case anyone else has had a similar problem. Has anyone tried other things that have worked?
DTrain
They are strange, it is strange how new things pop up. I have a dog that does not like any vehicle travel although he would rather not walk. My Vet solved his car sickness problem with good old fashioned and cheap Gravol, works for him. bexie
Ginger. Works great. Ginger snaps, ginger candy, ginger pills. Just lots of ginger before the trip. Works on humans, too.
Ninso
My vet recommended 1/2 a Dramamine and that worked well for me. I used it for a few weeks and then stopped and he was fine. I think it was more the anxiety and getting himself worked up than it was the car ride. Once he had learned to calm down in the car there was no need for it. sweet_ceana
Poor Poke drove from Phoenix to Denver and then back. Now the little car rides are nothing to him. Unfortunetly we didn't have much of a choice. The vet told us to give him benedryl, but he acted as if it did nothing to him. I have found he is much more comfortable in the car at night, or with the window barely cracked to give him some fresh air.
