"Calling Jamie Green"

I sure hope you have watching the USBCHA Cattledog Finals!!

WHY???

Your little Jet's sire, "TAIT" is sitting in 2nd place in the first Go round of OPEN.

From what I heard, he had the best drive today.

Tait (AltaPete Teddy) is by Scott Glen's Cub, who placed 3rd in the USBCHA Sheepdog Finals a few years ago.

YEAH!!!!

Who is running Tait?

Ron Green. Here is the link to the scores, although all of the first round isn't up yet: Cattle dog finals scores.

It looks like things must be going about as rough as they did in the first go-round last year, given the number of dogs without scores.

By the way, Roy and Sonny (the sire of Pip, Phoebe, Nick, et al., and last year's champion) are sitting in third at the moment.

Thanks for the link to the scores.

Blue says Go Daddy Go! (Sonny)

(BTW - Sonny is a full brother to my Heather! (Not same litter - same way bred). )

Anywho, Good luck to all! I didn't realize the Cattle Finals were this week! Gotta keep track of those scores AND Bluegrass.

Deb,

Are they posting the BG scores somewhere? I can't seem to find anything....

As for the cattle finals, of course a good score in the first go means a better chance of getting into the top 20 finals, but we need for all those guys to be consistent in the second go, and then in the final round for the big prize! (I was sorry to see that Tom and Pete had no score--I've been trying to reach him to find out what happened but haven't been able to get him.)

Hey Diane,

Thanks for the alert- I was not watching out for them but wondered yesterday what was happening. Great news for Ron Green and Tait! Will have to keep a better eye on it. Wish I could see him work in person- are they video taping the cattle finals this year?

How is your Jade pup coming along- I'm just getting a little more serious about starting Jet now that she is 8 months and so far so good. She had quite a weekend a few weeks ago, no working but got to tag along with me and Jane when we docked tails/castrated about 750 lambs in the Nevada range. She got to learn Spanish, go for a thrilling run back to camp (not so thrilling for Jaime who almost had to grab a truck), got to harass a few lambs (also, not very amusing for Jaime but great fun for Jet) and found out that lamb tails are excellent snacks.

Here she is grabbing a quick bite...

Before I look at the scores--- I see that they announced a police k-9 demonstration happening on Sat. I have come across them at other dog events. I have no idea how to get ahold of the organizers for the bluegrass, but they may want to ask the police in advance NOT to use guns/blanks. This happened once at an event I was at , and it reduced many dogs to uselessness. It is completely avoidable.

Julie - Looks like the scores are up from yesterday on the Bluegrass website.

Yep, I guess I was just a little too impatient yesterday. It looks like the sheep are winning a lot of the goes at the BG just as the cattle seem to be winning a lot at the cattle finals.

Jade is doing quite well...my friend Kathleen is watching her for me since i got into a horrible horse accident last Friday(head injuries). Actually, Kathleen had her for a couple of weeks and is keeping her for a few more while I recover.

She is fast, fearless and tough on stock. Nothing fazes her and she is very outgoing. Very full of herself and quite the alpha-wanna be pup. She is on the smal size and very fuzzy....huge rogh coat....weird considering her parents were both smooth coats. She is gonna be one handful!!

OK I know you are going to ask...head injuries....I'll post it on another thread so it won't hijack this thread.

No new results for today's runs as the Francis is having issues with the server...I also left v-mail for Ron but no answer

Just talked to Ron. Kane got 119.

The cattle are tough and about 50% ran back to setout. The outrun yesterday was 250 yds and today it is 350 yards.

Pete and Liz? did well and Lana and Kell did well....that's all he remembered. It is very windy back there. If your dog was slow or ??, the cattle ran over the dogs to the setout. It was hard to hear Ron as the wind was blasting.

More updates later this afternoon after he runs Tait.

Scores are being posted again, but I haven't tried to do the math to see who looks to be in the top 20 so far.... It looks like time of day must really be affecting the runs--dogs that didn't get scores yesterday are getting them today and vice versa. But it looks like there's a few who have managed to do well in both rounds.

And Lana's husband Marty is in with Duster!

Three Loren Holmes-bred dogs are in the Nursery Finals - Razzle, Dazzle and Leo, and Leo's in the Open Finals as well. Wow!

Well, and three cheers for the east coast contingent (Roy Johnson, Steve McCall, Norma and Tony Stewart, and Craig Rogers)! Of course, I'm pulling for Roy and Sonny, but I think it shows great skill and great dogs for any who made it to the double lift. And especially those who have done it for several years in a row!

And Dwight Parker...looks like Dwight was 2nd in nursery and Craig Rogers was 3rd in nursery....Open running now with Lana having a very good run with Kell, 402 out of 480

there is a good contingent of easterners!

Congratulations to Lana and Kell for their 2008 Cattledog Finals win! Good job to all those who made it to the double lift!

Oh yes, yay for Dwight for his reserve champion nursery run (I can't believe I left Dwight out--he'll be insulted!). Actually I think everyone who competed should be proud of their efforts.

Now if only the BG scores would be updated....
