Lizmo
So Chesney's SLUgirl's thread on Chesney watching the TV got me thinking. Does your dog respond/watch TV? .................................................. Lizzie doesn't. Once in a while if a dog barks, she'll look up. But most the time the TV doesn't faze her. Blaze, LOL. I was watching "The Shepherd's Pup" and whistles were blowing while Blaze was in his crate. He starts whinning a bit a pacing his crate. Then I was watching a video of a dog working on YouTube and the whistles were really loud and Blaze keep looking at me. It was funny to see. Chesney's Girl
Chesney does. He especially likes "Time well spent". Otherwise not much else catches his attention on TV. He might watch dogs on the TV when Animal Planet is on but otherwise regular TV he won't watch
Tiga's_mom
Tiga does all the time. His favorite so far is Planet Earth. hehe.
Kat's Dogs
Two out of my three do. Dazzle and Peanut. Peanut watches all the time, Dazzle only watches if there are dogs or other animals (she likes Planet Earth too!)
border_collie_crazy
Misty watches Hockey and anything relateing to Hockey..she watches nothing else at all lol Happy doesnt, my TV is in my room and so is my Rabbit, Bird and Gerbils, as far as she is concerned they are WAY more interesting then a TV lol Electra does sometimes, she watches when something happenes on the TV that involved a lot of really fast flashing, like crashes and action. Rusty watches TV all the time, he seems totally intranced by documentrys, he will honestly lay curled up on my bed watcing the TV with his ears perked, cocking his head from time to time. I dont mean he watches bites and peices, I mean he will intently watch an entire documentry, I have watched documentrys before that bored me to tears because Rusty was just so darn interested that I didnt wanna change the channel on him lol, I swear he is studying

Shelley86
Once in a while my dog Cody will see a man on TV and assumes theres a stranger peeking out at him... It's the funniest thing ever to watch! For the most part my dogs ignore the television, and it actually comforts my elderly dog to have a radio/tv on, he likes hearing voices near him. Dixie_Girl
Cheyenne is the only one who responds to the tv. Mostly if animals are on. If we have the tv on and she sees a dog, especially, she will bark her fool head off at it! She really hated the Taco Bell dog. When they did the remake of Godzilla, they used Godzilla in one of Taco Bells commercials. At one point in the commercial the Taco dog would start calling, "Here Leezard, Leezard!", she could be in a dead sleep, hear that, and wake up barking. One time I was at a truck stop getting fuel, and when I was done, and doing my log, I had the CB on. Some trucker was talking trash, and asking where all the lot lizards were. (lot lizards is trucker talk for um, "ladies" wanting a good time at truck stops, for a price of course!) Anyway, pretty soon he starts going, "Here, Leezard, Leezard!" Cheyenne was in the bunk and came flying up to the passenger seat, barking and looking every where for that damn dog! It took till we were back on the interstate before she decided he was gone! Lewie'sMom
I watch Animal Planet, ALOT. When Lewie was a pup he was quite enamored with the sights and sounds on the TV but now he pretty much ignores it unless some interesting new or dog related sound comes forth. BustopherJones
Misty watches Hockey and anything relateing to Hockey..she watches nothing else at all lol DEFINITELY MY KIND OF DOG!!! We leave the TV on for Annie (Disney Channel) if we are not home; I don't know if she actually watches it or not.
afrancis
So the real question may be, what channel do you keep the tv on for your dog while you're out? I keep it on Fine Living ... she is Paris Hilton, after all... Ailsa

Ms.DaisyDuke
Sadly, yes. Daisy watches T.V. She does not like the Pet Planet commercial and no matter what room she/tv is in or if she is in a dead sleep she will bolt to that tv. She does not like suspensful music on the T.V. either, apperntly it makes her edgy. If people are having an argument she get's upset, America's Funniest Home Videos get's her worked up, and she usually tries to look behind the tv to find out where all the dogs went. But other than that, she will just sit there and "watch". It's funny and a pain in the butt sometimes. It all started when we got a 62" tv. Can you imagine a girble that size in front of your nose, I don't blame her! The TV is gone, so hopefully she will start ignoring it again!! sweet_ceana
I will catch Poke and Ceana glancing at the screen every once and a while. Everyonce and a while Ceana tries to "get" the TV ball that a golfer is putting LOL. There is one actor, I want to say it's Kevin Spacey or Russell Crowe- my mind is not on today, and every time he is on a movie we are watching Ceana will stop in her tracks and just listen to him. She must really like his voice. LOL
SoloRiver
Jett is the only dog I've had who watches TV. She will lie there, gazing up at it, tilting her head once in a while. She also really likes watching birds, airplanes and other things that fly around. I would be worried except that there's nothing obsessive about it and it's easy to call her away. I guess she just likes to watch.
TDearstine
Kipp and Emma both watch tv, whatever we are watching, if there are dogs or alot of movement on the screen she jumps up and noses it, and looks back at us proudly! Kipp likes watching the training videos with me, at least till someone starts whistling, then he starts pacing and looking at the back door to his sheep, and they both love the Tractor Supply commercial with the B/C's herding in it,... no wait thats my favorite! airbear
Bear and Wick have never so much as looked at the TV. Lou will stare at the TV if it is making good sounds (for example, if I'm watching a sheepdog trial DVD or playing back one of Wick's agility runs). He tries to go behind the TV to see if that's where the good stuff is, which is challenging since the TV is mounted on the wall above the fireplace. Lou's sister, Meg, is an avid TV watcher. She can pick out animals in shows, in a way that I didn't think was possible. I should video her one day - it's quite amazing! For a while, her favourite was a Telus commercial featuring a slow-moving baby hippo. When she heard the music come on, she would drop everything to watch. Alonzo Terrell
Dante watches anything when he's slightly bored. He likes Seinfeld though, possibly because that's what I watch. I'm used to it but friends and family still have a hard time believing that's what he's doing.
WyoBC
From time to time Black Jack will watch it. He likes Spongebob for the most part. I think it's the laugh. But he will just sit there in front of it and watch until the show is over. Sometimes when it's funny he'll look back at me and I swear he's laughing. Nothing else other than agility or flyball gets his attention. He hates that viagra commercial where the old guys are singing about it. Not that I blame him, it's creepy. But whenever it comes on he'll look at me like "can you mute it please?" but if I don't have the remote to mute it he'll walk away
Janet808
Misty doesn't actually "watch" TV, but sometimes if we all need to be out of the house for a while I'll leave the TV on for her so she doesn't get lonely. Whether she's watching or not, I guess I wouldn't know. Just last weekend, we had to go to a first communion party for my nephew so I left The Dog Whisperer on! LOL I figured it was like us watching ... oh, I don't know...Dr. Phil! LOL
fotobridget
Liberty watches television incessantly. In fact, when I'm in my office writing--I pop in a Disney movie for her to watch. Keeps her entertained! Her favorite things to watch are Animal Cops on Animal Planet, and Lady and the Tramp. It's hilarious!
Skyler
...so I left The Dog Whisperer on! LOL I figured it was like us watching ... oh, I don't know...Dr. Phil! LOL I never really thought of it that way....LOL. I really wonder what they do think? I leave Animal Planet on daily for them when I have to leave them crated. They dont really watch TV to much per se but occasionally get interested when there are dogs on the TV. Koda does get interested in the YouTube videos I watch with dog sports. Zakky tends to bark at them and get excited when he hears the dogs on there barking - his interest is more auditory where as Koda tends to be more visual. I had a BC named Jackie that didnt get into TV but LOVED my CD's of nature. I used to play them all the time when going to sleep or just cleaning the house up for a refreshing ambience. They were things like "The Rainforest" with all sorts of critters making noises. There was one that had a little squeaky critter that sounded like what you would think a chipmunk would sound like. She used to go nuts circling the speakers, tilting her head and getting up close and placing her ear next to it trying to get at the rascaly critter inside...LOL. If I only had a video camera back then! Does anyone have a dog like Koda that LOVES the mirror? Ryan
