Dixie_Girl
A little while ago I decided it was time to go hunt eggs. I always take Jackson and Skip, and Holly has been so good about waiting inside the gate with no atempt to go out. Sooooooo, today I thought, well, I will try and see what happens, and let her out. She usually rushes the fence when the chickens get close to the fence, barking madly, but then walking away afterwards. So, I was very interrested to see what she would do with the chickens so close to the gate, eating their bread snack. Well, she rushed them, but that was it! She just walked away on down to the chicken coop with the rest of us! Then after getting my one egg(someones holding out ) and we started up the hill to the house, Holly went to the right toward the road. I called her, and was ignored, so I smacked the ground with my training stick, and yelled her name. She turned around and started up the hill with us. Well, actually, Jackson and Skip was already at the gate waiting(show offs!). And when I opened the gate, she went right in! I am so very proud of the changes and accomplishments this little girl has made! She was literally at deaths door, and thanks to Sally, I got her spayed, and thanks to (damn, I can't remember who suggested it!) who suggested thyroid check, she has really blossomed! Now, if we can just get this walking on lead thing down, she will be great!

PSmitty
I *think* I might've been the first to suggest checking her thyroid, and in any case, I'm thrilled to hear Holly's progress! You've done a great job with her, Linda. Thank you for not giving up.

I'm so glad Holly is becoming a member of the team. But if credit is due to anyone, I think it's to you first, and then to Pagan, who was my little monster-turned-semi-good-girl( she was a chow so incapable of being a completely good girl - they'd have revoked her chow card ) once we yanked her plumbing. And after all, you were the one who saved Prancer/Holly from being named Frances.
Tassie
Gotta love good news Holly stories. You should be proud Linda - of the training you've done with Holly, and for having faith in her and sticking with her.
Dixie_Girl
Thanks y'all! The support here really helps! You would just have to have been around her in the beginning to know what I mean, but I always sensed that she really wanted to be a part of "life"! She could just be so sweet! But, the way she was, she just wasn't adoptable, nor could I let her live life the way she was. And I guess I was "grabbing for straws" when I posted about having to PTS. Hoping like hell SOMEONE would give me a magic bullet, instead of the tragic bullet(yeah, yeah, but I get goofy like that sometimes, I must have wrote jingles in a former life!)that had her name on it! In her case, it worked. I don't have a prob PTS a dog that is sick, in pain with no relief, or that just is so damage it can't live in society. But, I think it should be a last resort. When she tore my wrist up, I really thought she was done for! Now, I can do the same things to her as I do with mine. With no fear. She's a special girl, and until someone else sees that too, she will have a good home. Thanks again y'all! Holly would say the same if she could!
