I couldn't feel any swelling and there wasn't any particular spot I could find that was hurting him so I rested him a bit and he seemed to be doing much better. But after playing ball yesterday the limp was back and was worse today. So off to see the vet today. She couldn't find anything either and the x-ray of his leg was showed nothing amiss. So she sent me home with instructions to limit his activity for a week, an anti-inflammatory and kalmia drops. I hadn't heard of kalmia before and I did a quick google search and found that it is used for arthritis/inflammation. Which would certainly make sense in this situation.
