Sick Puppy

My puppy of 5 months has been having diarrhea and has occasionally been vomiting. She's potty trained, but recently she's constantly going in the house. She's been like this for a few days and does not seem to be improving. Fortunately, her mood is the same as always, she's not depressed or lethargic.

She just recently got over a UTI with the help of medication and was doing great, but now I'm extremely concerned about this. I thought it was because of some Pupperoni treats that I had been giving her, so I threw away the treats and have been giving her portions of plain white rice with her food, but nothing seems to be helping!

What could it be? Should I take her to the vet because of this?

Take her -to rule out a serious problem, but it could just be a "gut" reaction to having been on antibiotics. They make a product now called Forte Flora, to restore good bacteria in the gut that antibiotics sometimes mess with. You could also try adding some plain or vanilla yogurt to her meals and see if that accomplishes the same. Laurie

If she were my pup, I'd take her to be sure. I'd also keep tabs on how much she is drinking and make she to give her really wet food to get extra liquid in her. All that diarrhea would tend to dehydrate her and that can be risky too. So that's another reason for the vet check.

Please let us know how it goes. Also, just in case you don't know, you want to make sure you use a really good cleaner on her accident spots. Otherwise it may be harder to get her fully potty trained again once she is feeling better.
