Bill Fosher
Well, folks, it's back. http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/stor...6827283,00.html All movement of livestock is banned; exports of British meat to the EU and Japan have been halted. Let's hope they can get a firebreak around it this time before they have to build pyres for 7 million animals.
kelpiegirl
I read that book windcutter down- and it was heavily laden with references to this horrible disease and the havoc it wrecked. This is truly very bad news. I also read that piece by Viv..... in stockdogs, also talking about this. I wonder if there is ANY way to truly eradicate it. JulieB485
Gosh we are praying and praying that it doesn't spread. Six years or so ago when we had the last outbreak it was truly horrific. All the dog shows and trials were cancelled, travel was hard as we didn't want to risk spreading the disease on our tyres. My friends training ewes had to be PTS _ I just don't want to relive this all again
Bill Fosher
The virus is endemic to South America, Africa and large swaths of Asia. So I doubt it will ever be erradicated, short of ridding the world of wild and domesticated ungulates in a flash.
