what is the usual length of outrun?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure that's the case. I haven't trialed out East.

Outrun length can sometimes be unimportant, too. One of our best trials out here has a short outrun but it's in sagebrush and cactus on yearlings fresh off the mountain. It's about all I'd want in that scenario.

Good point, Glenn.

While the BIG outruns are always fun and challenging.

Sometimes the challenge is not the course, but the sheep.

At the St. Patrick's Day Trial in Heppner, Oregon the course is quite small.

I guess maybe a 300 yard outrun, if that. A simple, flat hay field.

The drive is not that big either.

But, on the first day this year, less than half of the 50 dogs got a score!

And there were some really nice dogs there.

That trial is a blast.
