Do any of you guys utilize dog boots on your BC? I live on a ranch with some very rugged terrain and am looking at getting my dog some boots. So before I do it I want to get some input about their functionality and the degree of acceptance your BC's have with them.

I made the mistake of buying "fashion" boots for Allie. She absolutely detested them from the minute I put them on her feet -- however, it could have been the cute little rabbit fur lining the top of them that caused her violent reaction to them. There are some really great ones at Cabelas that I think I will buy for next winter, but I think it does take some getting used to on the part of the dog.

I would say it depends in the use you want to give to them, I support the use on snow and iced surfaces, but if you want them just because of the rugged terrain, you are doing a little favor to your dog, don't allowing his paws to get strong enough for the environment he have to live in. They also make the dog to loose lot of his balance and grip on the surfaces.

We use Muttluks all weather boots, yellow color. Never had a problem getting them used to them at all. I put them on and we did what they love best, work. They never thought twice about the boots.

I don't have problems with them falling off and they saved a lot of cut pads this winter.
