Rebecca, Irena Farm
This is simply an amazing online community, one of the world's largest Border Collie focused discussion forum site - and almost certainly the most vibrant and vital! Agree? Ever wonder who the people are behind this board? Ever wish you could support it with more than an appropriate "thank you" in season and out? The US Border Collie Club is the United States' first breed club for the Border Collie, and has been unwaveringly committed to maintaining and supporting the working Border Collie and the people who need them and appreciate them. You can be a part of that and get a pretty neat newsletter [shameless self promotion alert] four times a year with lots of great info and stories about Border Collies. Plus your membership fee helps support this forum! and the All About Border Collies site. Not a member but are wishing you were, now? Check out http://www.bordercollie.org/club.html for the club's history, apply at http://www.bordercollie.org/usapp.html after you've checked out the club's objectives at http://www.bordercollie.org/objectiv.html
DixiesDad
FYI the lifetime cost on your application and objective website don't match. Only noticed because I was printing out the application.

Only noticed because I was printing out the application. You're right Dixie's Dad! The objectives need to be updated, so for now just follow the cost and address information on the application, if you would please. Thanks! BustopherJones
It is not my intent to be argumentative; I am simply curious. What are the essential differences between ABCA (of which I am a member) and USBCC, and why is USBCC a better choice? Thanks.
Pipedream Farm
ABCA is a breed registry while USBCC is a breed club. Mark

What are the essential differences between ABCA (of which I am a member) and USBCC, and why is USBCC a better choice? Thanks. The ABCA is the working border collie registry. The USBCC is the border collie breed club - dedicated to the working border collies and the people who own them. Both (IMO) are worthwhile entities, and I support both of them (along with the USBCHA - the Handler's Association). For me it's not a which is better thing, it's a both are important thing. These three organizations more or less all work towards the same thing (maintaining the working border collie) through different outlets. BustopherJones
Thank you for clarifying that distinction. It would appear that membership in both organizations is worthwhile.
Lunar
A kind of oddball question coming from this forum but... can people join even if they don't have a border collie? (Okay, so we assume Zoe is at least part BC, but no one really knows.) I figure yes you're not going to turn people away. and I'm on this forum so I'm obviously interested in/committed to the Border Collie working breed. The first line on the USBCC Objectives page reads: "Membership in the USBCC is open to anyone interested in the Border Collie, its welfare, and its preservation as a sound working dog." Sounds like you'd qualify to me.
