  1. hey guys. I'm new here and was just curious if I bought a mutt or what. the guy said she was pure bc. but I had my doubts especially when he showed me pictures. at first I was told she was daughter of b/w border mom and dad. but then I saw pictures on facebook. the mother was smooth coat black and tan dog, so if she was border she was the rare old old breed that apparently isn't seen around anymore (black and tan barely any white, or so I read on the border collie breed page everytime I google what color they can be) I can't put a finger on what breed the mom is. dad was bc. for sure. bu

  3. Hi Everyone! First post, new member here. I have been stalking this site since I first met Lexie (my new BC mix puppy) and I have learned so much! A little bit about how I got here. My pup passed away 6 months ago from kidney failure, it was by far the hardest time of my life. Its still not easy but time will help. I volunteer at my local animal shelter and decided to become a foster after Benjie passed away (Pomeranian). It helped to fill the void of his absence. About 2 months ago we had a litter of 8 Border Collie mix puppies transferred in and they needed fosters for 10 days. I jumpe
  4. So, as we all know, the AKC has a breed "standard" for what dogs are supposed to look like. My question is, why does the AKC BC standard look NOTHING LIKE an actual border collie?? I saw a breeder's family of dogs in person the other day, and the guys were all short and barrel chested, and the girls were tiny! More lap than working dog! Aside from their markings, they didn't even look like collies. I get that the whole point of the AKC is to have this "ideal" appearance, but why make that standard so far removed from what border collies actually look like? Did they want a LESS graceful and
  5. Hi! We got our Noah when he was 10 weeks old, and told he was a tri color mini aussie from a breeder. I don't think he looks much like an aussie at all, and was wondering if anyone could give their opinions on what breed he is? I think he is a border collie/aussie mix. He is now 4 months old, and weighs 28 pounds!!! Whenever people ask his age, they say "look at those paws! he's gonna be huge!" Also, his fur is very short and slick, I was wondering if you think his fur will get any longer. There are a few photos when he was younger, and some more recent! More recent ones show one of h
  6. So I rescued my puppy about 3 months ago making her around 6 months old. They said she was around 3 when we got her and she recently lost all her teeth and her adult teeth have almost grown in completely, so I'm assuming she's around 6 months. Whenever I go on walks or to the dog park a lot of people ask if she's a border collie, but asks what she's mixed with. Other people don't see border collie at all. I only see border collie, but see the confusion with the shorter hair. She's around 40lbs, give or take. What do you guys think? I don't really have good pictures of her standing up, but
