  2. PLEASE HELP!!!! out my non-profit rescue, for BC (www.MWBCR.ORG). I'm NOT ASKING FOR MONEY just 2 minutes of your time. Vote for Stoli - the dog at http://www.bissell.com/mvp_PetDetail.aspx?id=8590070915 Times are really rough this year and a lot of family's are giving up there dogs. Which means more need to be rescued. Also we are not getting as many monetary contribution. It does take a lot of money to feed, vet and shelter these dogs. They more then deserve it! Bissell( The Vacuum company) is going to make a HUGE money donation to my rescue group if she wins 100% of the proceeds will go to www.MWBCR.ORG which provides help finding homes for these dogs. I hate to beg, but PLEASE HELP! I did this last year and they do not start spamming your e-mail with random junk.It is safe! PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO A FRIENDS! WE HAVE TILL MARCH 11th THANK YOU SO MUCH! Joe
  3. First off all agility and flyball people are not the same. There are both good and bad in both. To answer your question. Yes I spent $200.00 to have my dog x-rayed to see if her growth plates where closed. Agility is much harder on the dog then flyball ex.. Weave poles, multiple jumps ect.... I am not saying flyball is not. That is why I just spent 1276.00 on a springback box to ease some of the shock. So if you did not know much about flyball why respond......to be mean? Now to the rest of you. I am working hard on a swimmers turn, but I dont know if I am doing it right. Is there any secrets you can share? I was also having her turn right for about 3 weeks and I took away the training aids now all she goes is left. So I just changed that also. I am on a team but where I go I have to pay so I kind of think she is not working as hard as she could be to teach my dog. So she can keep getting money out of me. Is there any way to increase speed on recalls also? or does that come with time?Last, how do I get her to stop paying attention to other dogs in the lane next to her?
  4. I am currently training flyball to my BC. She just turned a year old. I took her to a mock tournament she did good around 6.2ish and goes crazy over the sport. What can I do to get her to be a tier one dog........speed, BOX TURN ect? Any and all comments welcome. P.s I just bought a New Springback should be in shortly:) Thank you Joe
  5. WOW. 3.9 that is flying. My dog just turned a year old and went for her first pratice run. She did a 6.2. Congrats
  6. THIS WORKS VERY WELL! I had to do that for my new rescue. Took a couple of weeks but now I can put my face next the bowl as she eats and even reach in her mouth!
  7. IS anyone going to the Naperville IL, for the Ashley Whippet Disc Dog competition. This will be my first time attending. I am not in the competition. Curious on what to expect?
  8. Does anyone have any flyball/ Agility equipment for sale? Or know of a place to find good but cheap equip.
  9. Does Anyone live in the Chicagoland area? If so do you know of anyone good Training centers?
  10. Now I am sort of biased when it come to females. Having grown up with them my whole life. I have just always heard they are easier to train. They train faster. Their temperaments with childern, other dogs are better, and they are much easier to house break. I have never owned a male. So I dont know for fact. Comments/stories?

  12. Thank you shores. Haha even if you wanted to get rid of you couldn't
  13. Well, I thank you for taking the time to read the all the pages and respones. It takes that to understand where I am coming from. I have never ever delt with a breeder before. I have also gone through MWBCR. So my knowledge was limited to that. It was not untill I was about to get my first BC from a breeder that I found this site, and went to (dont yell at me) Petsmart and bought this book. (after this post & some questions) I was willing to accept peoples opinions and wanting to see how they see things. After dealing with some Rescues I knew that some BC were a bit crazy. I already knew that BC where the worlds smarts dog having the IQ of a 5 year old, And all the thing that come with that tennis balls, hearding kids/my cat, water, the BC stare ect ect.... Anyways, I read prob the first 13 pages. Now I understood the heritage. How in 943A.D was prob the first TRUE BC and until the 19th century the BC was strictly a working dog. The body types ranged in height and weight. In 1894 there was a dog named Old Hemp 21 inch tall and 45 pounds thought out his whole life time he went unbeaten. Still has not been mached till this day. BC did not come to america till 1880. In 1995 there where finally in the hearding group with the akc. Which from what i learned hear. That was not a good thing and also in the book. Breeders went in two direction Conformation and performance. True BC people are afarid that showing the dogs in the AKC though having a hearding trials will weaken the breed. The ISDS/ Trials test the dog much more and if you where going to show them off. That is the place to do it. Not in some show that is all about look and symmetry. I understand totally where and why this forum was created. My question to everyone is why is fly ball and aglity allowed as a seperate forum? Is that not teaching people to breed for the wrong reasons? Can you be cerf in , ABCA, AKC, BCSA, ISDS all at once? Lastly, please understand that I LOVE BC weather they are smart or not. Weather there eyes are strait or they are blind. That is why I have rescued 3 of them and more to come. I am only 24 years old. So I have a lot of saving to do (through rescues). I just get so mad when people throw these or any dogs in to pounds because they cant deal with them. So when I hear some people get so mad because a dog is not perfect (even thought it was not the dog it was the breeder I was going to) It reminds me of some storys I have heard about BC owners. I HIGHLY RECOMMED "BORDER COLLIES" From DOG FANCY AND The Popular Dog Series. Newcomers-It will teach you about the history and how and why this BC bored was made.(in a nice fun way) Oh pictures too! Purebreds- You can still learn something in here about how the breed even started and how the Scotish and English prob look down on american breeding!
  14. Yes, I am concerned for the pup. But i will not be buying it. I will be looking else where
  15. ask the vet that you normally go to if they suggest anyone.
  16. From what I have learned, You should take her to a veterinary ophthalmologist. Other wise she could end up loseing her sight or even worse eye. Reguardless you should make sure she is not in pain.
  17. You feel better now that you made a comment?
  18. 1st I said nothing about everyone being dense. 2nd If you go back and READ my post you will said I have pretty much explained what you just said!
  19. Thank you.. Yeah, I have been looking at all those storys they are all heart breaking at first. Then to read they have been rescued it just awesome to hear. I did see that post and I am keeping tabs on it. I might just go through Midwest Border Collie Rescue again I'll have to see though. Because I do want to raise a pup.
  20. haha! This is freaking crazy. Good for you that you have been saying this all along, I understood from the begining where you where comming from. I was looking for everyones opinion which I got. This you trying to teach me is over with. If you are annoyed of it STOP RESPONDING. I know where you stand. Basically it is proving to me that you are very dense when it comes to seeing other peoples view or understand where they come from. Here I will spell it out for you. I know the ramification from buying from an AKC breeder! I know the ramification of buying from a breeder that produces bad liters. I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW HOW MANY TIMES TO I HAVE TO STATE THE ABOVE FOR YOU TO GET IT??? DO YOU THINK I GOT IT NOW? Seriously stop posting. I dont know if you are trying to make me look bad or just want to show everyone how you feel either way. It is over and done with I got my answers everyone has let it go but you.
  21. There is just no getting through to you. You just dont understand!!! I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. To everyone. Thank you for the great advice (Jdarling, tassie, katelynn&gang, kalper, herdcentral, ourboys, and everyone else that I forgot) I truely thought I was a very very die hard border collie person. I under stand that it took centuries to breed the actual Border Collie the way it stands today, It was never EVER ment as a show dog. So as the AKC to finally put it in the hearding group in 1995 was kind of a kick in the balls to TRUE Border Collie owners. It has led to breeding for looks and so many dogs ending up in the shelters ( Babe The Movie). I also know if you go to hearding trials that no two Border Collies are alike. They are bred to keep there NATURAL intelligence, working ablity and that keen stare that they can control a sheep with out even moving. So I do see how important it is for the eyes to be PERFECT. Understand this though for me. Even if you breed for perfection there will always be and imperfection some where along the lines. That imperfection does not mean the dog is any less important then the rest, nor should it be put down. Just dont breed it. Give it a FOREVER home.
