  3. We have gone out to Kansas City the last three years for Nellie's reunion with MoKan. Last year we stayed at the Drury Inns Stadium, which is just off of I-70. It is relatively inexpensive and they have a free breakfast and evening snacks and drinks. I think you can get a king size room for $59 per night. I don't remember them charging for Nellie or even asking what size she was and she is around 45 lbs, they just wanted to know that we had a dog in the room. There isn't a large amount of outdoor space, but we haven't really found any hotels that have very much outdoor space. There is also a Red Roof Inn in Independence that allows dogs but we had some noisy neighbors there and to find grass around the hotel was around a block away. Hope this helps, if you have other questions post them and I will try to help, we tend to travel quite a bit with Nellie and have gotten good at trying to find pet friendly places. John
  4. Nellie reacts the same for summer or winter storms. Luckily she has a pretty mild case of thunder phobia and is content to just hide in her crate until the storm is gone. She does seem to come out of her crate faster in the winter, I think because she loves to play in the snow. I am pretty sure Nellie reacts to the changing pressure, because she will usually start acting off about a day before the storm comes.
  5. We can relate to that also. We changed the door that Nellie comes in and out of and replaced the carpet with laminate floor. We put patios out all of the back doors to keep down some of the mud, which helped some. We also have a steam cleaner for when the carpet gets bad. Our dream was to put in a dog room off the back of the house with a fireplace and a heated tile floor with a door to keep her out of the main house while wet. It didn't take long to change our mind on that after we started getting estimates for the work.

  14. I have been wanting to go for years, but something always seem to come up to make it not work out. I promised myself that this year I would go down to see it. It is one of the major trials in the Eastern US. Unfortunately, I have been called on jury duty for this week and next week up to Friday. I may still try to go down, but we will have to see how gas prices are and when I get released from service. I have heard that it is a great trial to attend. If you go, take lots of pictures.

  17. We got Nellie a bad cuz around Christmas. I call from the store a squeaked it through the phone and she went crazy. Brought it home and she would not even play with it. So we now have a bad cuz in her toy box. She will go totally crazy for the really cheap squeeky balls and will play with them for hours.
  18. We use the Champion seatbelt for Nellie and it works out great. She has enough room to move around some in the car, since she has to see out each window. It was a must when we had the old dog vehicle, which was a Mustang Convertible. We now have a Mazda CX-7. It gives plenty of room for Nellie and our stuff for travels, but I wouldn't call it economical it gets around 16 city and the best we have gotten on a trip was 24. Of course it also requires premium so it has been a painful toy for the DW. I told her we needed to keep my Mustang, it would get 30 on a trip and that was with the V-8. If Nellie had her choice, we would have a pickup. Last year when we were remodeling the bathrooms, I rented a truck to get a lot of the supplies to the house. As soon as she saw it she ran out and wanted in. Took her for a ride and she just curled up and went to sleep in the floorboard. She was in heaven.
