  1. Hi Miztiki, How is Boyden going?? I havnt been here for a while, and have just read this thread, very sad. I'm not really sure what your vet has had him checked for, but everything you are describing is exactly what I went through with my pup, the high tempertures, not eating, the holding the head funny, yelping, when he does walk he walks with a hunch back, but he didnt want to walk, he prefered to lay down and not move, he had the sadest look in his eyes. Rebel got a spinal tap and scan done as a breeder/friend/vet of mine suggested that it could be AutoImmune Meningitis and that is what it was. There are all different kinds of meningitis that dogs can get, when we knew what we were dealing with we put him on steriods which help stablize the problem, which could explain why Boyden feels a little better after a dose of it. If I were you I would talk to your vet, and get them to test for meningitis as soon as possible, as it can be life threating, I know someone who had an 8 year old dog pass away from it as their vet didnt know what was wrong. Please feel free to pm me if you need to talk or find out any further information or just post here. Im am not saying this is what Boyden has, I hope it isnt, but I just felt i should share my experience with you. Hope all goes well.
  2. yeah i second that last one, i was at one trial where a mate of mine had his border collie in the ring for the first time and the dog did the first obstacle and then just took off straight to the family, then the second one exactly the same thing so the third time the family decided they would move when the dog was just about the start so this time the dog was running everywhere looking for them so the 4 time (it was a double trial 2 jumpers and 2 agility) he took the dog to the car and they waved good bye together but the dog still ran off looking for them The family hasnt watched another trial since hes not game enough
  3. Im so sorry about kip, i was just in the gallery looking at the pictures and then i came here and started reading and i cant believe the ending i hope all goes well with the pups.
  4. hey what do you guys know about royal canin or hills sicence diet?? are they better than purina pro plan?
  5. ive have often wondered if i could do the kibble for breakfast and raw for dinner maybe i could try it out and if her digestive system plays up then i could just stick to the kibble
  6. roxy loves those greenies but i wasnt sure about giving her one a day incase it was too many
  7. yeah, i havnt heard of any the of the recommended kibble brands but i might go around to all the local vets, im a bit disappointed at the moment due to the fact my vet recommended purina pro plan and i thought it was the top of the range but we all learn from our mistakes. Thanks punkrock i will check out for those in the ingredient labels. Thanks everybody for all the advice, for now ill swap kibbles and see if roxy's engergy levels improve and see if i can buy some bones for her teeth, she chews with her front teeth also!! ;P
  8. yeah, so by trying to increase her protein level i need to give meat right?? Hey if i were to stay on kibble and purina isnt that great like i thought it was what would i swap too? I have no idea what im looking for when i buy kibble. Yeah i might buy some knuckle bones on the way home from work but this wont break their teeth?
  9. yeah in australia we call them a red border collie, then there is a lighter colour again which we call lemon
  10. yeah roxy teeth have tartar build up on them already and shes only 18 months!! Ive tried brushing her teeth regularly doesnt help, and buying those dentastix things and they dont help, so that is one of the reasons why i want to switch to raw and also i thing her engergy levels could improve

  12. yeah, well ive decieded im swapping to a raw diet but it wont be till feb next year as im living at my parents house again at the moment and my sisters dog lives here and she doesnt want her going on a raw diet and i dont think it would be fair giving roxy those nice juicy meaty bones while jazz gets dry biscuts. So for now i thought i would get to know all there is to know (or try to ) and get excited about seeing the change in roxy when i do swawp her diet
  13. so are we allowed to use infants incest repellent for dogs??
  14. thanks miztiki, so those things you listed up to 14 i need to make sure i give roxy if i start the raw diet thing right? I printed out that big raw diet questions and answers thing you did and its great! i havnt finished reading it yet though
  15. yeah roxy does also, shes been on pro plan since the start and her stools are firm and small like a cats
